Point of Sale and Barcode Printer Manufacturer Toshiba TEC has acquired IBMs Point of Sale business in a deal worth £534m (US$850m). The deal strengthens Toshiba TEC presence in Europe and North America and makes it the world largest retail point of sale manufacturer with approximately one quarter of the global market.
Major UK retailers such as Morrison’s have widely deployed Toshiba TEC POS (Point of Sale) systems while Tesco and Sainsbury’s have very large populations of Toshiba TEC mobile barcode labels printers.
IBM is the largest computer services provider in the world has been focusing it’s activity on software cloud computing in established and emerging markets. It’s targeted $20 billion new revenue by 2015.
